Homework

Homework is an important part of school. It reinforces the concepts we are studying. Your Third Grader should spend no more than 40 minutes on homework. Please check your child’s homework notebook every evening for assignments. Every Monday, your child will bring home the information folder that contains a weekly letter from us and all of the graded papers from the previous week. Please remove the papers, sign/date, and return the folder to school on Tuesday. On a typical night, your child should be reading for 15 minutes, completing a math wkst., memorizing Bible verse, and preparing for Friday’s spelling test. Reading logs should be turned in every Friday.

Class Verse

Please check your child’s homework notebook for the weekly Bible verse. You can also view our newsletter by clicking on this link. Every Friday, your child is asked to say the verse and where it is located in the Bible. If this is done successfully, a sticker is added to the chart. After your child has earned 20 stickers, he/she will be invited to have breakfast at school with us (the teachers).

CHALLENGE: After a student has earned 20 Bible Verse stickers, he/she should still try to memorize verses for a class treat. Also, students will be challenged to memorize the books of the Bible in the correct order. Students who do this successfully will be able to have lunch with us (the teachers).

A Teacher’s Prayer

Lord,

Enable me to teach with WISDOM,
for I help to shape the mind.
Equip me to teach with TRUTH,
for I help shape the conscience.
Encourage me to teach with VISION,
for I help to shape the future.
Empower me to teach with LOVE,
for I help shape the world.
