Beginning in October, our school will begin the Book It program sponsored by Pizza Hut. The students will help set their own goal of minutes read each month, and for each month they have met their own personal goal, they will receive a free personal pan pizza certificate. If the student reaches his or her goal each month for six months, he or she will recieve a certificate of completion, and a pizza party!
Weekly Newsletter
August 14, 2008
Hello Parents!
I just want to brag a little on our new fourth grade class! You should be so proud of how hard your children try in their school assignments, and following directions. We are really working hard on following the schools rules on hallway and restroom behavior, as well as walking in any classroom respectfully, getting our ten minute list done right away, and getting our homework turned in. The students are really making progress. We have a wonderful class of kids!
I so much want to thank all of you caring, giving, and involved parents for granting all the “apple wishes”! You make a real difference in the quality of our school year. Thank you for everything (Especially the chocolate)! Our class is already reaping the benefits of what you have donated.
We are working on various math facts, handwriting, writing, and have already begun working on English and spelling.
Next week we will begin all of our subjects on Monday.
Mrs. Ludlow and I may be partnering with the math curriculum and possibly another subject. We are at this time still informally testing for various strengths and abilities within fourth grade. More definite information will come home later on this.
The only tests we will have next week are the practice and final spelling tests, the memory verse, and possibly a vocabulary quiz over science later in the week.
Just a reminder ~ students are not allowed in the classroom until 8:15, and class begins at 8:35. Due to trips to the office, prayer time, or meetings, teachers are not in the classroom until 8:15. We are not allowed to let anyone in the classroom without the teacher or staff member present.
Once again, we’ve gotten off to a very good start. You have great children and Mrs. Hedrick and I truly look forward to our school year with this class!
God bless, Deneice Brown

Memory Verse
Each Friday the students will be asked to recite that week’s memory verse to the teacher privately. If the student knows his or her memory verse, as well as its location, he or she will put a sticker on a chart. Any student who does not know the verse after two tries will go to workroom to learn this verse. It is so important, in our Christian education, to know God’s Word. These verses are an integral part of our weekly lessons.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Jeremiah 29:11
