What are SPCS's resources?
The SPCS teachers are its greatest resource. Each member is a dedicated Christian, and has an excellent educational background, energy, commitment, and desire to serve children. The teachers create a learning environment within a loving atmosphere by teaching Biblical principles and moral standards. Auxiliary staff members include assistant teachers in preschool and elementary plus specialists in music, art, drama, dance, physical education, and library.
We believe children “learn by doing.” Our goal is to provide “hands-on” experiences which encourage exploration. The devopmentally age-appropriate SPCS curriculum is expanded by phonics classes for first grade students and math enrichment for second through sixth grade students. Drama club, science club, math club and Spanish are after-school options.
We believe children learn best in an atmosphere of love and acceptance. Thus we strive to maintain happy, productive classrooms and use praise often. “Time out” is used, if necessary, but we refrain from any form of physical punishment.
Other resources include:
- Chapel - Kindergarten and the first through sixth grades worship together once a week.
- Music classes - SPCS children look forward to weekly music classes.
- Computer lab - The lab and classroom computers provide exciting learning opportunities.
- SPCS library - Weekly library visits occur for threes through sixth grade.
- Parental involvement - Parents participate in classroom activities and serve on school committees.
- School cafeteria - Elementary students enjoy child-friendly hot lunches or bring lunches from home.
