Four Year Olds
We offer a 3-day fours program where children feed into kindergarten. Younger fours often move into the Pre-K class for further social and emotional development.
Shapes, colors, numerals and the alphabet (using a phonetic approach) are introduced throughout the year. Art activities, songs, group games and indoor/outdoor play add action to the fours curriculum.
Fours are learning to cooperate with classmates. They are social beings who like to talk, sing, giggle, run, hop, jump and play! Fours are literal in their view of the world with imaginations expressed in drawings. They work on crayon and paper tasks which begin to develop eye-hand coordination. They like to cooperate and display good manners.
They are beginning to understand kindness and fair play. They can “talk over” disagreements with class friends. They understand and like to follow rules.
